Crime Log - January 20, 2006
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between January 5 and January 10. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.Criminal Damaging
January 5, 2:35 p.m.
Officer Parmenter met with a complainant regarding damage to her vehicle. She stated between midnight and noon on January 4, someone busted out the right rear tail light of her 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. She stated within the past few months she has had the same vehicle keyed by an unknown individual, and at one point someone attempted to tear her license plate from its brackets. The complainant stated she does not know of anyone who would want to cause damage to her vehicle.
Telephone Harassment
January 7, 1:36 p.m.
Officer Durian met with a UD student at Benisek Hall in reference to a telephone harassment report. The complainant stated that on or around November 12, 2005, she was at Carmel's restaurant when she met a white male named Ray who bought her drinks. She used his cell phone to call her cell phone because she couldn't find it. The next evening Ray called her on her cell phone, though the complainant stated she never intended to give Ray her phone number, and he retrieved using his phone. She stated since November Ray has been calling her numerous times, that he has not threatened her and he only wishes to be friends. Her father called Ray and told him he was the complainant's boyfriend and would beat him up if he called again. On January 7 Ray sent her a text message. The complainant said she is scared of Ray and wants him to stop calling her.
Burglary
January 8, 5:29 p.m.
Officer Durian was dispatched to Chambers Street on a report of a burglary. The complainant stated she left her residence on December 17, 2005, and when she returned to her residence on January 8 she discovered her Tangent laptop computer was missing from her room. She stated she left the laptop computer in her bottom desk drawer underneath a binder. She also stated it appeared someone looked through her closet because the clothes were not as she had left them, and some items had been thrown on the floor. On December 27, Officer Arnold had discovered the air conditioner unit had been pushed inside and it appeared someone had gained entry to the house. There are no suspects at this time.
Theft
January 9, 4:21 p.m.
Officer Parmenter was asked to speak with a complainant in Benisek Hall regarding a theft. The complainant stated he was at a party on Alberta Street, and sometime between 2:00 and 2:30 a.m. his black wool coat containing his TX Palm Pilot, valued at $300, was taken from the living room of the residence. He stated he has asked around and no one has seen either item. He does not know who might have taken his property.
Theft
January 10, 3:08 p.m.
Officer Arnold was dispatched to Lowes Street in reference to a theft of prescription medication. The complainant stated that sometime between January 4 and January 8, an unknown person took her bottle of 90 20mg Adderall from her bedroom. She stated she had placed the bottle of medication on the desk in her bedroom behind her computer printer, and when she needed the bottle to take the medication, she could not find it. The complainant stated her house is routinely left unlocked and she stated she felt as though someone had entered the house when she and her roommates were out and taken the bottle of pills.
