Crime Log - December 06, 2005
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between November 18 and November 29. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.Theft
November 18, 2:21 p.m.
Officer Parmenter met with a UD student at Benisek Hall regarding a stolen cell phone. The complainant stated that on the morning of Oct. 14 between the hours of 12:30 and 2:30 a.m., she and some of her friends were sitting on the porch of her residence talking. She stated that when she awoke at 9:00 a.m. the next morning, she realized that she had left her LG 6100 camera flip phone on the porch during the night. When she went to locate the phone, she found it was missing. The complainant stated that she waited for several days, attempting to call the phone on numerous occasions and always getting the voicemail, then after a week called the cell phone carrier to report the phone as missing. The carrier told her that her phone had been used several times during the time she was without the phone.
Criminal Damaging
November 19, 11:57 a.m.
Officer Arnold responded to a report of vandalism to the Frericks Center, a university-owned building. The complainant, a UD employee, stated that he found a broken window. The window appeared to have been broken from the outside, and it did not appear that anyone had gained entry into the room. There are no known suspects at this time.
Criminal Damaging
November 20, 12:12 p.m.
Officer Durian met with a UD student at Benisek Hall in reference to a damaged vehicle. The complainant stated that on November 18 at approximately 8:30 p.m. she had parked her black Toyota Corolla LE on Lowes Street. She stated that when she returned to her car on November 20 at approximately 2:00 p.m., she noticed a small dent with paint peeling from it on the driver's side front quarter panel. She did not know who or what caused the damage.
Burglary
November 27, 8:56 p.m.
Officer Orrill was dispatched to Obell Court on the report of a burglary. One of the residents, all of whom are UD students, advised that he had been the last person to leave the residence at approximately 2:00 p.m. on November 23, at which time he had secured the front and rear doors of the house. The complainant stated that when he returned to the house on November 27 at approximately 5:00 p.m., he noticed that the front door was unsecured and the window located by the front door was cracked. He stated that this window was accidentally left unsecured while they were gone, and it is believed to be the point of entry. The complainant is missing a Sony Cybershot digital camera valued at $250, a 256 Sony Pro Memory Stick valued at $200, a Playstation 2 game valued at $40 and a Playstation 2 Memory Card valued at $35. Another resident is missing a Tangent laptop computer and accessories valued at $1500 and twelve to sixteen DVDs valued at $240. A resident who was not present at the time is missing a Sony Playstation 2 valued at approximately $200.
Criminal Damaging
November 29, 8:30 a.m.
While on patrol in the SV parking lot, Officer Durian observed two vehicles with damage to the passenger side door locks. One vehicle is a silver Toyota 4Runner which had the passenger side door lock punched out. It did not appear that entry had been made into the vehicle. The second vehicle is a green Dodge Intrepid which had pry marks on the side door lock and handle. It did not appear that entry had been made into this vehicle either. The dispatcher attempted to contact the students to whom these vehicles were registered but was unsuccessful. There was no suspects or witnesses at this time.
