Crime Log - September 27, 2005
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between September 4 and September 23. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.Criminal Damaging
September 4, 4:03 a.m.
Officer Pease was dispatched to Lowes Street regarding a report of damage to a vehicle. He met with the complainant, not a UD student, who stated someone had thrown a beer bottle through the back window of his 2001 Plymouth Sebring. Officer Pease noted the beer bottle had done extensive damage to the rear window, leaving a 6-inch hole in the window. The complainant did not notice any other damage to his vehicle. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time.
Petty Theft
September 7, 7:19 p.m.
Officer Orrill responded to a report of theft on Lawnview Avenue and met with the two complainants. They stated their trash can had been removed from the alley. One of the complainants stated she put the trash can out on August 31 and remembered seeing it over the weekend, but noticed at 10:00 a.m. that morning it was missing. There are no witnesses or suspects at this time.
Theft
September 12, 5:12 p.m.
Officer Jolly met with a complainant at Lawnview Apartments in response to a report of a stolen cell phone. The complainant stated her friend and two males had been at her apartment on September 10 around 1:00 a.m. She stated she had felt uncomfortable with the two males in her apartment and had asked all of them to leave. At 2:00 a.m. she noticed her roommate's cell phone, which had been on the arm of a chair in the living room, was missing. The complainant stated the next day she talked to her friend, who said as she and the two males had left the lobby of the building, she noticed a third male carrying a cell phone. The friend said she asked the third male to leave the cell phone with the desk worker, and stated he said he was going to keep it. She stated later the male said he had thrown it in a sewer. The phone is a gray Motorola cell phone, worth $239.99.
Criminal Damaging
September 19, 11:14 a.m.
Officer Foreman was dispatched to RP-1 lot to meet a student with a flat left rear tire. The complainant stated he had parked his 1998 red Oldsmobile Cutlass on Friday at 2:00 p.m. He stated when he returned to his vehicle on Saturday he noticed his left rear tire was flat. He then noticed a ragged v-shaped cut on the tire sidewall. There are no witnesses or suspects at this time.
Theft
September 22, 8:26 p.m.
Officers Orrill was sent to the McGinnis Center in reference to a theft. He met with the complainant, who stated he had put his laundry in the dryer around 7:05 p.m. He stated when he returned to pick up his laundry around 8:00 p.m., he realized his clothing was no longer there. The complainant stated there were numerous t-shirts, shorts, boxers, and socks, a total value of $770. There are no known witnesses or suspects at this time.
Theft
September 23, 12:07 a.m.
Officer Durian responded to a report of theft from a motor vehicle on Chambers Street. When he arrived, the complainant stated he entered his vehicle at 12:04 a.m. and noticed that his Pioneer in-dash CD player had been removed. He stated nothing else was missing from his vehicle. Officer Durian observed two pieces of the dash lying on the passenger side floorboard of the vehicle. He observed no signs of forced entry into the vehicle, and the complainant stated the vehicle had been locked.
