Crime Log - April 18, 2008


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between March 30 and April 11. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Assault

March 30, 2:13 a.m.

Officer Little was dispatched to Campus South on the report of an assault. He didn't find anyone connected to the assault but called for other officers to respond because another situation had occurred. Officer Orrill arrived on the scene and saw a male walking through the parking lot with blood on his head. He approached the male and identified him as an 18-year-old male not connected with UD. The student said he was leaving a party on the 400 block of Kiefaber Street when a friend struck him. He only knew the friend's first name and the only description the victim could offer was a heavyset black male wearing a multi-colored shirt. At this time, Officer Schaefer arrived on the scene and patrolled the area but couldn't find anyone matching that description. The victim's friend gave the police officers the suspect's phone number but when Officer Little called, the phone was turned off. The victim said he didn't want to press charges until he spoke with his parents.

Theft

April 10, 3:56 p.m.

Officer Parmenter was dispatched to D lot at College Park Center on the report of a theft from a motor vehicle. He met with a female student who was standing next to her blue 2002 Jeep Wrangler. The student said she had parked her car in her driveway on Alberta Street around 7:30 p.m. April 9. She left it unlocked. When she returned to the car she found someone had stolen her Apple iPod and radar detector, the value estimated at $400.

Criminal Damaging

April 11, 12:21 p.m.

Officer A. Durian was dispatched to a residence on the rear end of Woodland Avenue on the report of a damaged vehicle. She met with the student who said he had parked his black 2001 Audi S4 at the rear of his house April 10 around 9 p.m. He said he returned to his vehicle around 9:30 a.m. on April 11 and noticed the passenger side front and back doors had a long scratch mark. The student said he didn't know who had caused the damage and he filed a report.

Petty Theft

April 11, 6:37 p.m.

Officer Barber was dispatched to the RecPlex on the report of a stolen gym bag. He met with a faculty member who said between the hours of 5:25 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. an unknown person stole his black bag valued at $25. It had been in his locker in the first floor men's locker room and contained a pair of tan shoes ($125), a pair of beige pants ($45), a navy sweater ($45), a white shirt ($45) and a General Motors Corp. key fob ($50).
