Crime Log - March 07, 2008


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Jan. 27 and Feb. 28, 2008.

Criminal Damaging

Jan. 27, 9:52 p.m.

Officer Pease followed up on a case of criminal damaging at Campus South. He saw a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta in front of the building with a flat tire on the front passenger side. The tire appeared to be slashed, so he contacted the vehicle's owner. She said she had not noticed the slashed tire until she drove the car. Pease found a Oakwood police officer's entry about a 6-foot white male slashing tires on Lawnview Avenue. The damage is estimated around $150.

Criminal Damaging

Jan. 28, 2:52 p.m.

Officer S. Durian was dispatched to S2 lot on the reference to a damaged vehicle. He met with a 19-year-old male student who said that his 1994 maroon Saturn was in the S2 lot at 4 p.m. Jan. 21. When he returned to the vehicle around 7 p.m. Jan. 26 he noticed the passenger side mirror had been knocked off. The male will not be filing a claim with his insurance company, but he did complete a written statement. There are no suspects or witnesses.

Jan. 28, 11:06 a.m.

Officer S. Durian was dispatched to RP8 parking lot in reference to a damaged vehicle. He met with the complainant, a 21-year-old male UD student, who said he parked his red 2001 Pontiac Grand Am in the RP8 parking lot at 7 p.m. Jan. 25. He returned to the vehicle around 1 p.m. Jan. 27 and saw that his passenger side mirror had been broken off. He filed a claim with his insurance company and completed a written statement. There are no suspects.

Criminal Damaging

Feb. 9, 11:30 a.m.

Officer Foreman was dispatched to the front of Lowes Street on the report of a criminal damaging complaint. He met with a 21-year-old student who said that he parked his red 1995 four-door Buick Sklylark in front of a residence on Lowes Street around 2 p.m. Feb. 8. When he returned to his vehicle around 11:30 a.m. Feb. 9, he saw the passenger's side window had been smashed in. There are no suspects or witnesses and the cost of damage is not known.

Feb. 28, 10:51 a.m.

Officer S. Durian was dispatched to the RP-7 parking lot at the rear of a residence on Kiefaber Street on the report of a criminal damaging complaint. He met with a 22-year-old female student who said that she parked her 2004 Jeep Liberty in the lot around 1 a.m. Jan. 27. She said when she returned to her vehicle at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 28 she noticed the vehicle's antenna was bent away from the vehicle. There are no suspects.
