Crime Log - February 29, 2008


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Feb. 7, 2008, and Feb. 15, 2008. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Criminal Damaging

Feb. 7, 2:34 p.m.

Officer Foreman was dispatched to Kiefaber Street on the report of a theft of a Volvo's grill. He met with a 22-year-old UD student who said he parked his car on the south side of the 200 block of Kiefaber Street around 6 p.m. Feb. 6. He returned to his dark grey Volvo four door and noticed the car's grill was missing. There was also a large dent on the front left side of the vehicle. The complainant said he has no known enemies and doesn't know who took it.

Criminal Damaging

Feb. 9, 11:30 a.m.

Officer Foreman was dispatched to the front of Lowes Street on the report of a criminal damaging complaint. He met with a 21-year-old male student who said that he parked his vehicle on Lowes Street around 2 p.m. Feb. 8. Upon returning to his red 1995 Buick Skylark four door he found the passenger's side window had been smashed in. The complainant filed a written statement and it may be covered by insurance. There was no other damage done.

Criminal Damaging

Feb. 10, 2:07 p.m.

Officer Foreman was dispatched to lot RP13, at the rear of Kiefaber Street. He met with a UD female student who said she had parked her car there around 5 p.m. Feb. 8. When she returned to her vehicle she found an 8 inch-long dent in the left rear door. It was about one-fourth-of-an-inch wide and deep. The car is a 1997 Silver Honda Accord four door. The cost may be covered by insurance and the complainant filled out a written statement.

Criminal Damaging

Feb. 10, 5:17 p.m.

Officer Weber was dispatched to Frericks Way in reference to a criminal damage complaint. He met with a 26-year-old UD staff member. He said he parked his 2004 red Chevrolet Aveo in the rear of a residence on the street around 6 p.m. Feb. 8 and upon returning at 5 p.m. Feb. 10, he found the right rear passenger window was broken out. A small scratch was on the paint where is was broken. Nothing was missing and Weber was unable to determine the cause.

Criminal Damaging

Feb. 15, 9:36 a.m.

Officer S. Durian met with a UD student at the UD police station in College Park Center on the report of criminal damaging. The 24-year-old male said he had parked his 2002 Dodge Intrepid on the 500 block of Lowes Street, near Evanston Avenue. He left it around 2 a.m. Feb. 15 and upon returning around 9 a.m. he found that the right side mirror had been damaged. It was detached from the vehicle and hanging by its wires. There are no suspects.
