Crime Log - February 08, 2008
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Jan. 19, 2008, and Jan. 21, 2008. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.
Criminal Damaging
Jan. 19, 10:45 a.m.
Officer Russell was dispatched to RP 7 lot on the report of a damaged vehicle. He met with a 21-year-old UD student who said someone had damaged his blue 1999 Ford Super Duty Extended Cab F-250. It was parked in the RP 7 lot, the old Rudy's Fly-Buy lot. The rear window in the extended cab was broken sometime between 4 p.m. Jan. 18 and 10:30 a.m. Jan. 19. Nothing was missing from the vehicle. There are no suspects or witnesses.
Criminal Damaging
Jan. 20, 5:06 p.m.
Officer Cloyd met with a 22-year-old UD student on Evanston Avenue about a damaged car. On the evening of Jan. 19 or morning of Jan. 20 someone had broken the driver's side mirror off of her green 1996 Honda Civic. It had already been glued on once before after being broken. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of a residence on Evanston Avenue and the damage was noticed around 9:30 a.m. Jan. 20. There are no suspects or witnesses.
Grand Theft Auto
Jan. 20, 1:42 p.m.
Officer Durian was dispatched to A lot in reference to a stolen vehicle. She met with a 19-year-old male who was visiting a friend. He said he parked his maroon 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra in the lot at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 19 and when he returned around 1:30 p.m. Jan. 20 he found the vehicle was missing. The vehicle had Ava Maria University and University of Findlay stickers on the back. There were bowling shoes and an Adidas bag in the back.
Criminal Damaging
Jan. 21, 8:10 p.m.
Officer Orrill was dispatched to Lowes Street on a report of a damaged vehicle. He met with a 21-year-old male student who said that the driver's side mirror was broken off of his silver Saturn Ion. The car was parked on Kiefaber Street around 1 p.m. Jan. 20 and upon returning he found the damage. Officer Orrill determined that the car's position on the one-way street ensured the damage resulted from criminal damaging and not from a passing vehicle.
Theft
Jan. 21, 2:18 p.m.
Officer Barber was dispatched to a residence on Lawnview Avenue and met with a 20-year-old UD student. She said when she was at a party the past weekend someone stole her jacket, mittens and wallet. The wallet included three bank cards and a driver's license. She provided a copy of a Chase Bank statement, highlighting the fraudulent charges made on her card, including $23.59 from Papa Johns in Dayton. The total value of the items is $320.04.
