Crime Log - October 09, 2007


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Sept. 24 and Sept. 30.

Theft
Sept. 24, 8:23 a.m.

Officer Parmenter went to a residence on Woodland Avenue to speak with a student about a missing bike. The male said that sometime between the night before and that morning someone had cut his cable lock from his bike and stolen it. It had been on a tree in the back of his residence. It was next to his roommate's bike, which had not been stolen. It is a blue 26' Huffy mountain bike valued at $200. There is no insurance coverage on the vehicle.

Petty Theft
Sept. 26, 9:57 a.m.

Officer Russell was dispatched to Alberta Street on the report of a theft. A female UD student met with him to report a stolen bike. Sometime between 8 p.m. the night before and 8:30 a.m. that morning someone cut the cable lock on her bike that was secured to the stair rail on the back door of her house. The bike is a silver Ironman with a yellow front and valued at $200. There are no known witnesses or suspects at this time.

Petty Theft
Sept. 27, 3:10 p.m.

Officer Durian went to Albert Emanuel Hall to meet with a female staff member in reference to a theft complaint. She said that she noticed a stereo system missing from one of the rooms. The system had a cassette player and a radio and was valued at around $100. She did not see it missing on Sept. 24 and no students said that they had borrowed it. It had not been returned and she filed a written statement. There are no suspects at this time.

Petty Theft
Sept. 29, 11:58 a.m.

Officer Durian went to Chambers Street to meet with a female university student who reported her bike had been stolen. On Sept. 28 around 2 p.m. she locked a silver Specialized bike to the front porch of her residence. The next day she saw it was missing. The wire lock had been cut through and left. The value of the bike is $300, but the student will not file with her insurance company. Her roommate's bike was taken at the same time.

Criminal Damaging
Sept. 30, 8:03 a.m.

Officer Orrill went to Marycrest Complex because of a damaged vehicle. He met with a female UD staff member who said that she had parked her red 1995 GMC Blaxer in the Delivery Zone in front of Marycrest at midnight Sept. 30. When she returned at 8 a.m. the passenger's side mirror had been knocked off the SUV. The mirror was still in the parking lot about 15 feet away. She probably will not turn that damage into her insurance company.
