Crime Log - October 05, 2007
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Sept. 21 and Sept. 30.

Criminal Damaging
Sept. 21, 12:45 p.m.
Officer Durian went to Evanston Avenue to meet with a resident with a criminal damage report. The female said that she had parked her car in the grass next to her house on Sept. 20. When she returned to her vehicle, damage had been done to the 1996 GMC. The passenger side mirror was broken off and hanging by an electrical cord. The student completed a statement. The car is insured and as of now there are no witnesses.
Theft
Sept. 24, 10:34 a.m.
Officer Durian met with a male UD student at the UD Police Station about a theft. The student last used his wallet at the United Dairy Farmers on Brown Street and later realized he did not have it in his pocket. Another UD student e-mailed the complainant saying that he had his wallet and had found it outside of his residence. When the victim got his wallet back, it was missing credit cards and a driver's license. The cards were canceled.
Theft
Sept. 24, 1:40 a.m.
A male UD student met with Officer Russell because a suspect had taken $40 from him and tried to cash a check from his personal checking account. A male approached the victim when he was leaving apartments on Irving Avenue and said that his car was broken down and needed to get his daughter to the hospital. The victim drove the man downtown and gave him money to get out of the car. Afterwards, he found the checkbook was missing.
Petty Theft
Sept. 29, 11:58 p.m.
Officer Durian went to a house on Chambers Street in regard to a stolen bike. The complainant said that she had locked her blue, 18-speed Giant bike to the front porch of her house. When she went outside later that day, she realized the bike was missing. It is worth $200 but the victim does not know the model number or serial number and was not going to file an insurance report. At the same time, her roommate's bike was also stolen.
Burglary
Sept. 30, 2:30 a.m.
A male UD student met with Officer Schaefer in his residence on Lowes Street with a report of a burglary. The victim said that someone had entered his locked second floor bedroom and removed the laptop from its location on his desk. After inspecting the door, it seemed as if the person entered by removing the hinge pin from the padlock securing the door. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1521 valued at $900 and was taken during a party.
