The majority of students tend to drift towards the Ghetto on Fridays and Saturdays, leaving the residents of Woodland Avenue to the Darkside.
The exception for this was last Saturday, when the street came alive for the third annual Woodstock on Woodland.
With the street blocked off, students listened to their fellow neighbors Pat McInnis, the Firewalls and G-Lot perform live.
Jonathon Reinhart, Troy Oldford, Bryan Hoersten and Derek Gerdeman are all members of
G-Lot, a cover band that mostly plays 90s songs.
"We all grew up in the 90s, so it's music we know," said Oldford, the band's lead guitarist and vocalist. "We don't have time to write originals because we're engineers."
G-Lot has been together as a band for 18 months and plays many local scenes in backyards, the KU Pub and Flanagan's Pub.
The members have also done charity shows, such as Relay for Life and the Haiti benefit concert, said Hoersten, the band's bassist.
"Our favorite gig is when we played at a lake in Indiana and invited a bunch of our neighbors over, and people where out on their boats listening to us," said Reinhart, who plays drums and keyboard.
"They said they could hear us a mile away," Oldford said.
The winds made the day chilly, but with the sun, fun and great music, many students agreed Woodstock on Woodland was a perfect way to spend a Saturday.
