It's a damn good thing that rock n' roll ain't noise pollution, because the Environmental Protection Agency would have a huge problem with X-Fest 13.

Local radio station WXEG "The X's" 13th annual hard rock and heavy metal showcase boasts 14 screaming, ax-riffing bands on two stages, including mainstream titans Puddle of Mudd, Buckcherry, Avenged Sevenfold and Shinedown. If you like looking at cool tattoos, this is your Sistine Chapel.

WXEG also reserved sets for four talented local bands, the winners of a Battle for X-Fest contest held last June. Chapter of Progress, Seconds Fall, Hollows End and Felix Tucker get the chance to turn the heads of some influential music bigwigs.

Some of the national bands have played this event before. Buckcherry and Avenged Sevenfold melted faces at the 2006 X-Fest, while Puddle of Mudd and Shinedown rocked out in 2004.

About 25,000 insanely excited people are expected to pack the Montgomery County Fairgrounds this Sunday. It's rare that X-Fest tickets aren't sold out by the day of the show; your best bet is to reserve your place in advance. There is no age limit for those in attendance, so feel free to bring along a few young'ens for some good old fashioned corruption.
