Web site allows students to download missed notes
Ryan Sapp, a sophomore finance major, has started a new user-friendly Web site, www.ISleptThroughClass.com, that will allow students to upload and view notes from their classes. The Web site was a sponsor of Field Day and launched this past Saturday.

The Web site's purpose is to provide notes to students that miss class and need the lecture's notes.

'Students miss class for numerous reasons,' Sapp explained. 'They have doctor appointments, they party too much the night before or they slept through class.'

Sapp explained that getting notes from missed classes is not always easy.

'Sometimes people don't know anyone in the class and have trouble getting the notes,' he said.

When these situations occur, getting the notes for the missed class is now an easier and painless task. Students can log in and view the notes for the class missed.

The process starts with students signing up to be members of the site. Signing up to be a member of ISleptThroughClass.com is quick, free and easy. Once signed up, students will receive a discount coupon from Papa John's.

Students can then upload their notes from their classes for others to view. Other students can then go on the Web site and view the notes that classmates have posted.

If students feel the notes are quality, they can rate the notes with the highest rating of 'I'm getting an A.' If viewers feel the notes aren't acceptable, they can rate the notes 'These notes suck.' There is also a middle rating of 'Just OK.'

Once students receive five 'I'm getting an A' ratings on a set of notes, they will receive a $10 e-certificate to Amazon.com.

'It's a win-win situation for everyone,' Sapp explained. 'You get free stuff for uploading your notes and you get notes for free.'

Sapp has already received positive feedback for the site. On Field Day, for which ISleptThroughClass.com was a sponsor, 'everyone loved it,' he explained.

'It's a really good concept, but the more students that sign up the more beneficiary the site will be,' said sophomore psychology major Beth Geiger.

Aside from benefiting students, Sapp explained, ISleptThroughClass.com can also benefit professors when their students miss class. Notes are already online and accessible for all students without professors doing any work.

Sapp talked to one of his professors at UD, as well as professors from the University of Indianapolis and the University of Indiana. All professors thought the site was a good idea.

Sapp has been working on the site all summer and has been investing and saving up to provide the budget. During his sophomore year of high school, he sold his car and invested in the stock market. He made a down payment on a townhome in Indianapolis which he leases, and he also stained decks the past two summers.

'Our goal is to have it go national,' Sapp said. 'The budget doesn't afford to market to every school, although it's accessible to every school in the U.S.'
