The UD women's basketball team is hoping that success in the exhibition season leads to victories when it counts.

Coming off of a 93-33 victory of Division III team Ohio Northern, the Flyers beat BEAC-Siemens 74-51 Monday night. BEAC-Siemens is a Hungarian team that features three players who play on the Hungarian National Team.

Senior guard Sarah Allen helped carry UD to the victory by scoring 21 points and igniting a key first half run.

BEAC-Siemens got off to a good start as they used 6-2 and 7-0 runs to take an 18-12 lead with nine minutes left.

Allen then helped the Flyers take the lead for good when she hit a pair of threes and the Flyers went on a 13-2 run to propel them to a 39-29 lead at the half.

BEAC-Siemens cut the Flyer lead to five early in the second half, but UD responded with a 23-6 run to take a 63-41 lead with five minutes left.

Allen led the team with 21 points and six rebounds and senior Heather Haselman and freshman Nastassia Alcius contributed 10 points apiece.

Senior captain Chrissy Donovan went scoreless, but had five assists and six boards.

Csilla Bartha led BEAC-Siemens with 18 points and Agnes Klucsik had 12 points and six boards.

The Flyers open their season on the road against St. Louis tonight before returning home to host Marquette in a doubleheader with the UD men's team.

St. Louis had a successful exhibition season as they won both games in convincing fashion. The Billikens are led by junior forward Angie Lewis who led the team with 13 points and eight rebounds a game last season.

Marquette won both of their exhibition games this year and will be led by senior Rachel Klug. Klug led the team in both scoring and rebounding last year and had a career-high 23 points in the Golden Eagles' 91-63 victory over UD.

'We are looking to contend within the A-10 and for us to do that we need to face some early tests,' UD head coach Jaci Clark said. 'We can't look by anyone this season because every game is important.'
