If trashy behind-the-scenes 'The Real World' videos didn't give you enough of young lascivious coeds in compromising positions, MTV is now releasing 'MTV Yoga,' a work-out video hosted by 'The Real World's' Lori Trespecio and instructed by Kristin McGee. Hitting the shelves Tuesday, and available on both videocassette and DVD format, 'MTV Yoga' arrives just in time for the holidays.
Yoga is no longer an obscure workout for your cool aunt and Dharma from 'Dharma and Greg.' Throwing the granola, incense and eastern philosophy to the proverbial curb and exchanging nirvana for a 'cutting edge beat,' MTV promises a yoga video geared towards the younger crowd. Set to Deejay BT's electronic music, MTV promises a 'new pulsating fitness video for the young and music-savvy.' With MTV behind the musical reins and a real world 'The Real World' star hosting, 'MTV Yoga' is assuredly a hipper and faster-paced workout than your average run-of-the-mill yoga video.
Whether Carson Daly does yoga remains unclear, but Madonna, Naomi Campbell, Gwyneth Paltrow and Gwen Stefani, as well as your resident sorority girls, are all practitioners of this recent workout fad, which promises to 'increase energy and concentrations, alleviate stress and get into shape.'
Trespecio introduces the video before handing it over to McGee, a certified yoga instructor from New York who has also appeared on HBO's 'Sex and the City' and a number of ABC daytime shows. The program takes a unique and user-friendly approach to teaching Yoga with McGee at the forefront teaching yoga for beginners as two other instructors reside in the background demonstrating intermediate and advanced positions. Beginners should not shy away from 'MTV Yoga' for McGee begins with proper breathing instructions and stretching techniques before starting the fast-paced 53 minute Vinyasa-inspired yoga workout. The workout promises 'an all-inclusive flexibility and cardio-workout.' The video is also designed so that once the newborn yoga enthusiast masters the beginning positions, they can graduate to the more strenuous and skilled positions, following the other two instructors.
Whether you plan to use 'MTV Yoga' as a stocking stuffer, or even as a post-holiday gift inconspicuously slipped to your turkey and stuffin' lovin' girlfriend, MTV promises the video is a 'fabulous way to get in shape anytime of the year.' The videocassette is priced at $14.95 and the DVD at $19.99.
