SAFETY ADVISORY
January 22, 2013
The Department of Public Safety is publishing this information to notify
the University of Dayton community regarding an occurrence at Marianist
Hall.
A female student attended a party at a house on Lawnview Avenue at
approximately 10:45 PM on January 19, 2013. While at the party she drank an alcoholic beverage that was offered to her, then “blacked out”. She woke up the next morning in her Marianist Hall room, with evidence of a sexual assault. Friends told the female student she left the party with an unknown male named “Mike” or ”Mark”, but she could not provide a description other than he was a tall white male with brown hair and a white shirt.
The Department of Public Safety is investigating this incident and will
follow up on any report of criminal activity. If you have information
regarding this or other crimes, please report that information to the
Department of Public Safety at (937) 229-2121 or 911 from a university
telephone.
We encourage students to consider personal safety at all times.
If at a party, do not consume beverages from a common container.
Refuse offers of any open beverage container.
Please ensure doors and windows are locked when leaving your residence or before going to bed.
Whenever possible, do not walk alone. Walk with a friend or use the Public Safety Escort Service, (937) 229-2124.
Should you see any person acting suspiciously or committing a crime, please contact Public Safety immediately by calling (937) 229-2121 or 911 from a campus phone.
