The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office is in the process of reviewing the case of two alleged rapes reported in August, according to Randall Groesbeck, director of administration and security for the University of Dayton Department of Public Safety.
Both incidents involve the same two UD students, one male and one female, Groesbeck said. The first alleged rape occurred around midnight on Aug. 18 on Kiefaber Street. The second alleged rape occurred shortly after midnight on Aug. 20 in the Caldwell Apartments, and was reported to police shortly after 2 a.m. The Kiefaber Street incident was then reported to police on the morning of Aug. 21.
By the time of publication, Flyer News was unable to confirm with the prosecutor’s office if they had indeed been made aware of the case.
Groesbeck, a department major, said he was not authorized to discuss whether the Dayton Police Department was involved in the investigation of the case. As of Wednesday, Sept. 5, the Dayton Police Department had no record of the Kiefaber or Caldwell Street incidents.
Groesbeck said both incidents are under investigation. Flyer News will continue to follow this case as more information becomes available.
